Are your mornings a mad rush? Then maybe a strawberry bircher is the breakfast for you. Birchers are prepared the night before breakfast, so you can make them in any container you like.  Making them an ideal breakfast to take to work or school.

Vegan & Gluten free

Prep time – Overnight & 10 minutes
Serves 1 to 2

80g of gluten free oats
200ml of milk or plant based milk
1/2 tsp. of vanilla extract
100g of fresh strawberries roughly diced

Chia jam
150g of strawberries
2 tsp. of chia seeds
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract.


The night before you’d like the strawberry bircher for breakfast.

For the Chia jam
Use 150g of ripe strawberries, slice and remove stalks then add to a bowl. Mash the strawberries and add the chia seeds, vanilla extract and stir together. Cover and leave in the fridge to thicken overnight.

To make the Bircher
To make the vanilla oat bircher mix the oats, milk, vanilla extract together, then divided equally into two containers.
Then to make the strawberry bircher slice 100g of strawberries and add to one of the vanilla bircher containers and stir. Cover both and place in the fridge overnight.

In the morning remove the vanilla and strawberry bircher and the chia jam from the fridge.

Stir the chia jam and then spoon into the base of the breakfast container (we like to use jam jars or a glass).  Then add the strawberry bircher and top with the vanilla bircher. Finish with a spoonful of chia jam and sliced strawberries. Alternatively spoon the strawberry bircher into a bowl with the vanilla bircher and add chia jam and strawberries.
