Heavenly scented sweet roasted plums recipe with cinnamon and orange.

Plums have to be one of our favourite fruits, they have a comfort factor that not many fruits share – maybe because they evoke childhood memories of cosy winter desserts. They are delicious eaten fresh, baked in the layers of a crumble or simply as roasted plums.

We were delighted to be asked to partner with South African Fruit for this sponsored post to create a versatile recipe using their South African purple plums. Available in UK supermarkets from January to March these plums have a deliciously juicy texture and wonderful taste and are available when our UK plums are out of season.

These gently spiced cinnamon plums are roasted with a little light brown soft sugar, orange zest, orange juice and vanilla extract. Roasting the plums intensifies the sweet flavour and creates a gorgeously sticky plum syrup perfect for drizzling over your breakfast or dessert.

The roasted plums scent is heavenly and they are perfect for breakfast with crunchy chocolate granola, a spoonful of coconut yoghurt and a drizzle of plum syrup. Or why not enjoy them as a dessert with chocolate ice-cream and finely chopped pistachios.  The choice is yours, but we’d highly recommend tasting both.
