We can frequently be found creating random flavour combinations for bliss balls. However, sometimes it’s hard to beat the tried and trusted flavour combinations – here is our recipe for chocolate orange bliss balls.
Bliss balls are a great snack that gives you some health benefits and helps curb those sweet cravings.
Easy to make, ideal to batch make, great to freeze and take out when you want them. In the summer heat, we like to eat bliss balls pretty much straight from the freezer.
Chocolate Orange Bliss Balls
Makes 20(+) x 30g balls
250g dates (pitted)
160g desiccated coconut
100g almond butter
80g cacao powder
60g coconut oil
Zest of 1 orange
Juice of 1 orange
1/4 tsp. orange extract
Tip the dates into a food processor and pulse until they form a smooth paste. Add the almonds and pulse until they start to break into a rough crumb, then add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Check if they are ready to make into balls by taking a small handful and squeezing it together, if it binds then you are ready to roll.
If you are being precise, weigh the mixture into rough 30g balls and shape using the palms of your hands roll into a smooth ball, repeat until you have used all the mixture.
If you are pushed for time, line a rectangular loaf tin or glass storage box with cling film or baking paper and add the chocolate orange bliss ball mix. Press down firmly and smooth the surface. Pop in the fridge for an hour or so then tip out and slice into cubes.
Store the chocolate orange bliss balls in an airtight container, ideally in the fridge where they will last for up to 2 weeks or freeze in freezer bags or freezer boxes.
